In the moment.

As you pour the last drops from your dream bottle, the gentle splash as the nectar hits the glass,  those expectant moments when anything can happen,  these are the times we crave in our whisky journey,  the gentle aromas rising from the Glencairn as you slowly tilt and gaze at the wonderful colours that greet your eyes, you can almost taste the flavours already..

Swirling the precious liquid that sits in the glass and watching those beads of liquid slowly form and make their way back down the sides until it rests within the comfort of the whisky just waiting to be sipped.

A thousand thoughts rush through your mind at this point, as you try to imagine the aromas your about to interact with, the glorious miracles that the wood has impacted on this simple liquid in order to drive us insane..

Then as the aromas actually hit your senses you feel that smile, that incredible moment when your hopes become reality, those delicate smells interacting with big strong notes, the amazing memories that flood back, the simple urge to put glass to mouth and just take that first sip, the overwhelming notion that your dreams of this incredibly rare whisky might just disappoint !  In that moment time can almost stand still while at the same time it seemingly speeds past, emotions racing and every fibre praying that the liquid is as good as your making it seem, the perfect colour, the amazingly intoxicating aromas, and now the moment arrives when you take that first sip…

The smile returns, a moment of silence that just says everything and the realisation of just how good this whisky actually is…

What a lovely review. So tantalising in its description.. the hint of pleasure and the expectation and experience of those moments.

All I can say is “that made me smile”.

    Bravo! 🙂
