Today’s review is taking a trip back to my beloved Auchentoshan distillery in order to review the latest offering from the bottle your own. Over the last few years I have purchased quite a few of these bottles and so far I have had some stunning bottles, this is my first Auchentoshan oloroso single cask in the bottle your own collection so I have high hopes for it…
Auchentoshan Distillery Exclusive Cask #935
Distillery.. Auchentoshan
Region.. Lowland
Distilled.. 23-9-04
Bottled.. 25-2-16
Abv.. 59.6%
Cask.. First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt #935
This is Naturally Coloured and NCF and part of the Bottle your own experience
Nose.. your nose instantly gets hit with wave upon wave of big dried fruits like dates, sultanas and prunes, citrus peel and candied burnt orange, dark chocolate and coffee notes muscle their way in while subtle vanilla and toffee notes tag on the back of molasses and thick gooey honey.
Palate… Big bold and incredibly clean flavours fill your mouth, dried fruits galore, big candied orange flavours with bitter chocolate and subtle oak flavours. After a while you start to get liquorice and some ginger, subtle Black cherry and a heavenly sweetness that reminds me of black treacle smothered over pancake.
Finish.. Fruity and robust
Thoughts.. I know I love this distillery and sometimes I can be blinkered but this really is a great cask. The flavours are just so intense and full on, Auchentoshan have this knack of giving us finished whisky that is really good, the red wine casks are blending very well with the tripple distilled whisky, but when it comes to their sherry cask they really do stand out.. Looks like I need to revisit the distillery very soon as these bottles will not last long..
A perfect Distillery Exclusive Bottle that is part of the bottle your own experience at Auchentoshan, a fully matured Oloroso whisky from cask #935.
Awesome whisky!!

Hello. This Auchentoshan single cask is bloody good, I bought a bottle a few weeks ago and it’s almost gone. I love the picture with the Auchentoshan barrel. And the new look is great.

Hello Sorren.
I have just found your blog and currently looking through many of your tasting notes, I have to say I agreed on so many of your notes so far. I was lucky to visit Auchentoshan in early March and bottled my own small bottle from this cask, your notes were spot on with what I had written down. I look forward to reading many more reviews.

Whose handwriting is that on the note inside the case? It seems really odd to see calligraphy on sticky note, it’s like if someone made finely carved figurines out of charcoal!
