GLEN MORAY ( port cask finish )

The locally malted barley and pure waters of the River Lossie combine to produce this delicate well-balanced whisky.

At the Glen Moray distillery you can discover the reality of malt whisky distilling. The delight of Glen Moray is that  when you take one of the tours your tour guide could actually be one of the distillery craftsmen themselves.

The great advantage of this is the authenticity of the introduction – each guide knows the process of whisky making like the back of their hand. So, at Glen Moray, you will gain an unforgettable insight into how water and barley are transformed into ‘the water of life’. image

This expression from the team at Glen Moray was added to the core range back in 2014,  the classic malt is given a period of around 8 months finishing in Tawny port casks before bottling at 40%abv..

Nose… An instant maple  syrup aroma hits you before giving way to fresh fruits like blackberry and raspberry and blackcurrent jam, some orange marmalade notes with with fresh pear and butterscotch…

Palate..  The palate carries on with those berries, lots of fruity notes with a sweetness from caramel and butterscotch, some fresh honey and citrus notes come along while a subtle oaky note creeps in towards the end…

Finish.. A medium finish with sweet oaky notes.

Thoughts… This has a lovely sweetness that balances out with fresh fruits and subtle oaky notes, the traditional Glen moray notes are there along with some delicious fruits,  this is certainly a welcome addition to their core range..
