Glenmorangie – A midwinter nights dram.

image

This is a new release from glenmorangie, it is said to be a limited edition inspired by the Scottish winters, intended to be drunk by a roaring log  fire.  This expression is matured in select bourbon casks made from American white oak, and extra matured in the finest oloroso sherry casks.  Availability is in the uk only.. It is bottled at 43%abv..

Nose.. A lovely sweetness greets your senses, a typical pick n mix type of aromatic aromas, dates, figs, toffee and fudge, sugared almonds and walnuts, roasted chestnuts, and a little spicy note pops up..

Palate.. Straight away you get that happy feeling, luscious eastern promise in the form of orange, lemon, ginger, figs, dates and almonds, a  lovely spicy note of ginger and pepper, dark chocolate and vanilla fudge round it off.

Finish.. A creamy rich finish, not overly long but satisfying nevertheless.

Thoughts..  This is a lovely balanced  dram to warm up the parts on a winters night,  a lovely change.  Although it is not the most complex of whiskys it does have some depth, go on spoil yourself.. Buy a bottle or two..

A lovely whisky from Glenmorangie, I managed to buy a couple of bottles from my local supermarket, wish I’d bought more.

I was waiting for a review of this before popping into town to see if I can getbhold of any. It sounds like a nice whisky and one that I might try to get myself or with Christmas and birthdays on the way it could be a nice present 🙂 Nice review.
